A little about myself

I obtained my Doctor of Philosophy in Civil Engineering from The University of Auckland (2020), Master of Science in International Construction Management from Nanyang Technological University (2015), and Bachelor of Engineering in Water Supply and Drainage Engineering from Hunan University (2011). During my PhD, I explored using virtual reality serious games for earthquake evacuation training. I tested different gamification setups and investigated their effects on training effectiveness.

I have published several academic papers on extended reality (i.e., VR, AR, and MR), human behaviour in disasters, and safety training (see my Publications page). My publications are the joint effort of my colleagues and students from different institutions and organisations. Currently, I serve on the editorial board of JCAL (Journal of Computer Assisted Learning) and as the reviewer for many international journals in different fields (see my OTHERS page for a comprehensive list).

Before my academic career, I worked in China as a designer for an architectural consultant from 2015 to 2016 and in Singapore as a site engineer for a contractor from 2011 to 2014, both specialising in buildings' plumbing, sanitary, and water-based firefighting systems.
